Healthy Lifestyle; Update

So I have been doing this diet for just over four weeks, I haven't been quiet as strict as I should, however ever since trying Belvita Biscuits I have no desire to have cookies, chocolate digestives, anything :) So I'm very proud of myself on that front, as I normally have a very very bad sweet tooth!!

I don't know how much weight I have lost exactly, I definitely don't look as bloated as I used to. I put not loose a lot a weight down to the fact I don't do intense exercise as I can't find the time and can't drive so living in the middle of no where means their isn't a local gym! However I do walk almost everyday, If I can't go for a walk my little boy keeps me going! And I don't sit around the house doing nothing, I do housework all day everyday.... overly house proud and probably have OCD hate things not being tidy and clean! So I am always active I certainly don't sit on my bum for a full hour unless Tyler is having a nap, where most likely than not, I rush around doing things that I don't like to do when Tyler is awake!

Well my books have arrived, I think I had blogged to let you know, or at least tweeted? Sorry if I didn't... Have had a teething little boy who had 3 teeth come through all at once, and he decided to start to learn to climb the stairs anddd my partner has just started a new job which means 5 and a half days a week so it's been maddddd so yeah, it's been crazy recently!

I have started taking some gin seng multivitamins as they are meant to help with energy levels, and at the moment Tyler isn't sleeping to well.. not 100% sure.

Well that said must be off, Time to chill as Tyler has finally settled for bed. So G'night people, fellow bloggers!

Tyler's Room Is Tyler's Room...

So I went on a cleaning spree and re-sorted Tyler's Book shelf etc. After all my hard work to tidy Tyler thought it was his turn...

So he caught me with the camera as he started his handy work...

But was happy enough to carry on

Still organizing.. Clearly my tidying skills aren't up to par.

"All these books are meant to be on the floor mom"

Almost sorted out this mess mom made...

Now that is much better ... Just leave it like this please mom!

My cute little boy clearing everything from the middle shelf and from the top slightly. hehe. Never mind less than 5minutes of time for me to sort, Must have been a lot of concentration for Tyler, and he was pretty happy with himself after.

Hi ho Hi ho it's up the stairs we go....

So a couple weeks ago, Tyler had decided he would face the all mighty stair case!! and Climb the wooden hill! Which first time round he did it with no problem at all! Which in one way was amazing because he can't even walk, but on the other had it is very worrying.. We haven't yet been able to get another stair gate for the bottom of the stairs, and it takes Tyler seconds for me to have turned around and he is already at the bottom getting ready to climb all over again! When we do have a stair gate I think I will relax a bit more. One thing my mom and dad said I should do .. Was at bed time make him climb up (with me right behind him) and it'll soon ware him out to go straight to sleep! hehe

Love my little boy so much he is so clever! It's unreal! He'll be 8months in less than 10days! Where does all that time go???

Dino Cake!

I am a really really organised, and slight perfectionist, so for Tyler's birthday I have decided I want to do a Dinosaur Cake!! As we are thinking that's what the theme will be! So I have already started to practice making the cake!!

I'll put the link at the bottom of the page of where I found the cake shape etc.

For the cake I use a chocolate sponge the ingredients and recipe are;

1 and 1/2 of "all purpose flour" I used Self raising Flour.
3 tablespoons of unsweetened coco powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla essence
3/4 cups of milk
3/4 cups of butter
2 eggs

Preheat the oven to 350 deg F (gas mark 4 or 180 deg C)
Grease a 9 inch 23cm tin ( i manage to split the mixture into 2 cake tins)
Mix the flour, coco powder, baking powder, sugar and vanilla essence into a bowl
Melt the butter at low heat and add to the other ingredients. Then add milk and eggs.
Mix everything together until smooth
The pop in the oven for about 30minutes or until a knife comes out clean, when pocked in the middle of the cake.

After that I then make the dinosaur. click here

Here are my pictures.

Then get creative!

Healthy Lifestyle; Days 7 & 8

Diet is going really well, books hadn't arrived until day 9 which was yesterday finally! I have started to read it over so I can get some more idea's and make sure I'm doing the diet properly so I can benefit more!

Well I can say, it really does get easier, I hardly feel as though I'm on a diet? When ever I look in the cub board and see the nice things my fiance gets I will stand and think that would be so nice, But I have absolutely no desire to eat them? I'd would rather have a BelVita Biscuit! i love them!!
I don't think twice about going to the fridge for a piece of fruit, and I haven't had any bread at all! I've had a wrap or pitta. But not Bread.. Haven't had it in ages. I Had pasta the other nice, And I got sooo bloated, however I also seem to be getting the wonderful time of the month ... yaay ...

So Day 7 consists of breakfast which was a banana and 4 belvita biscuits.

Lunch; Pitta bread, with cheese, lettuce and ham. Really tasty!

Dinner; Chicken, Potatoes, Salad (radish, iceburg lettuce, spring onion, raisin and red onion)

My energy levels seems to going back up and today I managed to eat 5 of my 5 a day!! wooooop

Day 8 Breakfast 1 banana, Lunch a bowl of porridge, and Dinner was spag bol!! Home made of course!
I got really bloated after the pasta and I couldn't eat much of it.

Before having the pasta that day, I had felt like my tummy seemed flatter, no bloating. I have been walking every day as I can't go out during the week, living in the middle of no where and being unable to drive sucks. note to self learn to drive!

Well I'll be back to blog soon

Fine line

Tyler is now at that age where he needs attention and cuddles due to his teething. But we have the added strain that he is advanced for his age, and now he is after help with trying to walk, your probably wondering after reading this what's the fine line?

That line of your baby being Spoilt or just in need of something?

I don't want Tyler to be like some of the babies you see that cry all the time due to being picked up and carried all day. Yes babies need lots of love and attention which Tyler is given.

To stop him being needy we started the self sooth method when putting him to bed, or when ever he was showing signs of getting tired, we would put him in his cot, telling him why he is going in (yes he was about 5months but can never start teaching your child to early) we would explain its bed time/nap time using these words exactly and repeating them tell him night night we love you and leave him. It seems cruel at first, but it's for the best. Tyler took 20minutes the first time we tried this method then after that it just seem to get shorter and shorter!!

When a baby is teething, I don't really think you can give them too much love? You know your baby better than anyone, you know when their crying it means something, it's not just a "mommy I need you to hold me" kinda cry!

Considering Tyler is my first baby, And I haven't had younger brothers or sisters, so no previous experience what so ever! I'm proud to know Tyler doesn't cry for attention all the time and he is well behaved! He is a clever young boy :)

Anyone got any thoughts on this? I know some will hugely disagree on this blog and others will strongly agree. But these are my own thoughts written down.

Healthy Lifestyle; It's a choice

I will be writing a blog tomorrow keeping you up to date with everything from day 5 onwards. This blog is more about how I'm feeling, about the "diet".

So we can call a change in our eating habits a diet, but is it really a diet? Or is it a lifestyle choice?! To me a it's a choice, to make myself healthy, to show my son Tyler that eating fruit and veg can be fun and tasty, that its not all about sweets and chocolate.

I must admit, I'm not finding it as hard as I thought to stay away from sweets, cakes, chocolate, pasta -- this I used to eat all the time!! It's easy!!

If I get a bit hungry, instead of grabbing a chocolate bar or a biscuit, I grab some fruit or veg, I almost eat chicken every day, which is a good meat to eat, as their is hardly any fat.. I'm even trying to eat more fish, but I have a difficult time as I don't really like the fishy taste to fish.. That doesn't really make sense but it makes sense to me!

I feel less bloated, I don't need huge portions so my meal sizes have reduced which is good, I don't feel the need to snack as much either.

In a whole I'm feeling rather good, and like it's easy, it's not about o god I can't eat that, I can't eat that, No that's isn't good, It's about how I want to feel in myself and my body.

Healthy lifestyle; days 2 - 4

I haven't been keeping up to date with the food diary blogs, so I am sorry about that! I have been extremely busy with my little boy, he is getting more and more active by the minute! My partner recently started new hours with a new job, so we are trying to form a new routine around Tyler!

So getting on with my food diaries!

Day 2 so for my breakfast I didn't really eat much, I just had an apple and a handful of grapes. Which isn't a lot I know but I didn't really feel too hungry. So thought rather than a biscuit with a cup of tea, I would have fruit ... which I should take as a good thing really.

Lunch was 2 crumpets with peanut butter on, I couldn't find much inspiration wise! found these in the cub board and thought hmm peanut butter shall have to do!

and then for dinner I made home made chilli con carne, yes homemade! I don't like using jars ... who knows what is put in them! And rather than white rice, I tried some organic brown rice instead, which I think I may grow to really like!

I did have a chocolate bar, which was just 1 kid size milky bar.

Pam (my cousin) motivated me with these words; "a minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips" guess we've all heard that before but it did make me think twice!

Day 3
Breakfast Weetabix with branflakes and milk.

Lunch, was really nice and different, my dad had come over so we did roasted potatoes with some peppers, tomatoes, garlic and carrot.. Which was really yummy, I didn't need to eat loads to fill me because of the potatoes, great idea.

Another home made dish was a chicken curry.. First time I have cooked one! Turned out rather well as well! Again had this with brown rice! I did have some poppadoms with a small amount of mango chutney.

Few notes for this day I haven't been feeling as bloated, which I will put down to the lack of pasta, and bread "carbs" I haven't had and I'm suffer baddd on the break out of spots.. Still feeling like a hormonal teenager! Never mind I'm drinking plenty of water so should help detox my body!

Day 4
Breakfast I know before I even say this many will say thats baby food.. BUT I still LOVE Rusk's baby biscuits? Surely some of you will say you still agree!

Lunch I had fish and parsley sauce with brown rice and peas. I  did use frozen for this (fish and sauce) but I didn't really enjoy the sauce because of it so I will be trying to make my own next time, If I can find a little more time for myself!

Dinner Do I even mention this?! I feel like I failed... I had a Chinese, purely though as I had my sister over, she was feeling a bit down and needed a pick me up and she insisted on chinese so I gave in BUT I did have a very small amount my sister even laughed and said I'd had a pathetic amount of chinese!! Which I guess can be seen as a bit of a laugh.

Thoughts of the day; VERY VERY tired!! Because of that I feel as moody as ever!! But on the plus side I have been finding myself needing smaller portions!

Shall keep you posted! Have you started a diet? How are you getting on?

Yours Sara
