Homemade

I have always loved cooking, making home made cakes and bread, their just a certain bit of satisfaction to come from it.. Don't you think?

So my fiance and I also decided we don;t eat pre-packed food.. why should our little boy? Now i'm not going to lie of course we use a couple of pots here and their as they are convenient, the biggest problem is you don't see what goes in to them? How much is actually veg or fruit?! So we decided to make our own..

Making pureed fruit and vegetables yourself is easy, we even started to turn our full dinners into baby food!

For example steak and chips!! Or a simple Sunday dinner anything you can think of your little boy can have too!

Making your baby home made is simple, all you need is a blender and a few minutes in the day to sort it all out! It can then be frozen (when made in bulk) and used for another day!!

So first thing's first ... Add put all your food in the blender.. In this baby mix we are making him a Sunday Dinner, So mash, yorkshire pudding, broccoli, chicken, gravy and stuffing. Lots and lots :)

Give it a whirl

And here we have it! Simple and smooth!!!

Once finish put it into pots and pop a couple in the fridge and a few in the freezer.

Hope you have fun.. Enjoy!! Simple cook a little too much or take some of your portion.

Bake A Cake.. {2}

So what will we be cooking?!!?
Family Chocolate Cake
Yummy

You will need;
PREHEAT YOUR OVEN
  • 125g/4 n half oz Soft Margarine
  • 125g/4 n half oz Caster Sugar
  • 2 Eggs (i prefer free range)
  • 1 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 125g/4 n half oz Self-raising Flour ... sifted
  • 2 tbsp coca powder ... sifted
now before I continue I must say... that I never managed to get the "finished look" pictures as I forgot :( So I am sorry in advance!

1. So first things first! You need to grease two 18cm/ 7inch shallow cake tins.

2. Now in the cook box it says to mix all the ingredients for the cake into the mixing bowl and beat with a wooden spoon or whisk. However I like to add mine bit by bit as I don't have a whisk so it's slightly easier for me, and allows me to make sure their are no lumps etc so ... I add the butter and caster sugar to the mixing bowl and mix together well...

3. After I have mixed the butter and caster sugar I then add the eggs.

Doesn't look very appealing .. but it should look something like this when you have added your eggs.

4. Time to add the flour and coco powder .. Once you have sifted the flour and coco powder mix the ingredients together.

you should end up with the mixture looking like this.
4. Once mixed pour the mixture to the two cake tins. Bake in the preheated oven at 190'C/325'F/Gas mark 5, for about 20 minutes or until the spring to touch... I like to stab the cake with a knife in the middle, if the knife comes out clean it is cooked, if their is some mixture on the cake put if back in the oven for a few minutes!

You can make a topping and a filling for this cake... I didn't as I ended up spending the rest of the day playing with my little boy so forgot!! oops.. But my partner wanted to have the cake with custard so all was good!!!

If you want to make the topping and the filling here are the ingredients you will need and the instructions.

You will need;

  • 50g/1 3/4oz icing sugar ... sifted
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 100g/3 n half white or milk chocolate
  • A little milk or white chocolate, melted (optional)
To make the filling, beat the icing sugar and butter together until light and fluffy. Melt the chocolate and beat half into the icing mixture. Use the filling to sandwich the 2 cakes together. Spread the remaining melted chocolate over the top of the cake.

My fiance, certainly enjoyed it :)
Happy baking... Enjoy your cake.

Walk about

For a while I have needed to get Tyler a walker... And finally we got one! We wanted to wait till Tyler was a bit steadier at sitting up and now he is!

We decided to get our walker from  http://www.kiddicare.com/  again... If you have read my other blog you will know that we got our new car seat from them too.

Again the brand is baby weavers. It cost £44.97 so it's not too pricey, a happy medium I like to say

So we bought...

I didn't really know whether to buy just a blue one, as when we have another baby it might be a girl! ... but my partner liked this one, and everything else we have got even the highchair is unisex so Richard wanted Tyler to have something blue.

Its great, Fairly simple to put together... A little bit of self assemble needed. Arrived quickly once again!
Haven't got anything bad to say! Tyler loves the side pieces and the little "steering" wheel... and 3 buttons which are a bit loud, but when Tyler presses them it certainly gets him a little excited! :)

Here are some pictures of Tyler in the new walker ...

As you can see from the photo's the Walker also turns into a rocker. So its fun for baby as it changes function :)

I love this product

Have you got this walker what did you think?

Fun & Mess Free

So it was a while ago now but I just uploaded the pictures from my camera.... along with 100's more!! And I stumbled across these of when we took hand & foot prints of Tyler at 20 weeks old.

We had bought a kit off ebay... (No longer listed) which came with a inkless wipe, a piece of card, apparently the card was what activated the ink.. but it was great to not Tyler upset because of paints etc :)

So I wanted to share the pictures with you :)

Gums and Bums

aghhh!! Tyler's Gums started to bleed yesterday for no reason..!! He had been a little bit upset on Wednesday but only for a short while, and he had stopped teething for a while! But it appears Tyler has a tooth coming through! How exciting.

So not only has Tyler decided just to start getting his teeth he wants to start CRAWLING!! So even more exciting times ahead... he can't crawl without help with pulling himself but he's almost their! and he has started to get on his knees and "rock" as if he wants to go .... just cant.

Tyler has also since being more mobile decided he likes to sleep with him bum in the air!!

We shall keep you posted on all this progress, for now we are sending love and hugs

Leaving Little Bean...

So for the first time last week I had to leave my little boy so my partner and I could put up our garden shed before the bad weather came!!

It wasn't too bad as we left him with his Auntie Tarnia (my twin sister and his guardian) and my mom and dad. So I trust them all and they all know his routine etc :) So I was fine..

And I should remember it's not just good for me to get a break as I am with Tyler 24/7 as it is also good for Tyler!! He has to know he doesn't always need me their.

I just feel sometimes, that their is such a "branded" issue about girls being young mom's that we all fall under the same category that we all go out all the time and leave our baby with everyone and anyone! Not meeee! Totally opposite I planned having a baby, I see having Tyler as I should look after him and raise him not others? And I don't think its right to be going out allllll the time.. But maybe that's just me and I'm old fashioned like that... but o well

For other mom's that are worried about leaving their little one, yes it was hard and you feel odd not having them in the car on the way or in the house... but they are ok! You'll be ok ... and its GOOD for both of you!

So enjoy sometime with your partner, even if just for an hour! :) Bake a cake or something!
